Napoleon Wrasse Canvas Print

A Napoleon wrasse in blue and green fills this underwater portrait from Palau, with a diver’s bubbles visible behind it. Photographed by Cobi Hay Yacobi in the Pacific Ocean, the image is offered on canvas in three landscape sizes. Its wide composition gives you a marine subject to consider above a bench, cabinet or seating area.

Meet the Napoleon wrasse

Cheilinus undulatus is also known as the humphead wrasse. It is a large member of the wrasse family, and males can reach around two meters in length. Adults have a deep body, fleshy lips and a developing forehead hump. These features give the species a distinctive profile among reef fishes.

It lives in tropical Indo-Pacific waters, including coral reefs. Its diet includes mollusks, crustaceans, fish and sea urchins. The Australian Museum’s species profile describes its habitat and the wavy markings on its body. The scientific name undulatus refers to that wavy appearance.

Blue water, green detail

The Napoleon wrasse photograph shows the fish in blue water, with blue and green across its body. A diver’s bubbles appear behind it. These are the details that define this particular photograph: the fish, the surrounding water and a trace of the diving environment in the background.

The horizontal composition can be viewed as a broad arrangement of color from across a room, then as an animal portrait at closer range. Think about both distances when choosing your wall. Beside a seating area, the photograph can remain visible from the doorway while also being easy to examine when you sit nearby.

A stretched canvas, ready to hang

Your Napoleon wrasse photograph is printed on matte canvas with non-toxic latex inks. The canvas is stretched over an inner wooden frame of sustainably sourced pine, 0.75 in (1.9 cm) deep. The image continues around its edges, and hanging hardware is included. It arrives ready to hang.

There is no decorative outer frame included. The pine frame supports the canvas from within. Display it with the wrapped edges visible, or choose an outer frame separately if you want to coordinate with existing artwork. Include any added frame in your wall measurements before deciding on a size.
