Yellowmouth Moray and Cleaner Shrimp Canvas Print

A cleaner shrimp on a yellowmouth moray’s head is the small detail at the center of this Red Sea photograph. Cobi Hay Yacobi’s image brings two very different animals into the same frame. Choose from three landscape canvas sizes for a study, living room or office where you can look closely at the pair.

Why a cleaner shrimp visits a moray

The moray is Gymnothorax nudivomer, also known as the yellowmouth or starry moray. This elongated reef fish belongs to the moray family and occurs in the Indo-Pacific, including the Red Sea. Its companion is Lysmata amboinensis, a small crustacean that removes parasites and damaged tissue from fish.

The cleaner shrimp gains food while its client benefits from cleaning. This is mutualism, a relationship in which both participants benefit. The species account for Lysmata amboinensis explains this cleaning behavior and the animal’s appearance. That natural history gives context to the close contact shown in the photograph.

Look for the smaller subject

The moray faces the camera, with the red cleaner shrimp sitting on its head. The difference in size gives the photograph two points of attention: the fish you notice first and the much smaller animal you can find on a second look. Both are part of the same underwater encounter.

The image is wider than it is tall. When choosing a position, consider whether you will be able to approach it as well as view it from a doorway. A wall beside a chair or above a low cabinet can make the smaller detail easier to enjoy than a spot high above eye level.

From photograph to stretched canvas

The moray and cleaner shrimp photograph is printed on matte canvas using non-toxic latex inks. It is stretched over a 0.75 in (1.9 cm) deep inner wooden frame of sustainably sourced pine. The photograph wraps around the edges, and hanging hardware is included. Your canvas arrives ready to hang.

No decorative outer frame is included. The pine support is part of the canvas construction, leaving you free to display the wrapped sides or choose an outer frame separately. When comparing this print with artwork you already own, allow for any extra width that an added frame would occupy.

Three landscape formats

• 12 × 8 in (30 × 20 cm) — $69 USD

Price and shipping

The moray and cleaner shrimp canvas starts at $69 USD. Shipping is free to the USA, Canada and Australia. For other eligible countries, shipping depends on canvas size and quantity and appears at checkout before payment. The English shop does not ship to the EU, the EEA or the UK. Outside the USA, import duties or taxes may apply.

The production and delivery estimates are listed below. Printing comes before the delivery period, so consider both stages if ordering for a particular date. You will receive an order confirmation and, once the canvas ships, a tracking number by email.

A closer view in a study

The room images place the cleaner shrimp and moray canvas above a low oak cabinet in a study; the smallest version leans on the cabinet. This gives you a practical comparison of scale. In your own office, check that a monitor, lamp or stack of books will leave both animals visible from your seat.

Another partnership on the reef
