A flamingo tongue snail reveals the patterned living tissue that covers its shell in this photograph from Jardines de la Reina, Cuba. Cobi Hay Yacobi’s image makes a small marine animal the subject of a portrait canvas. Three sizes let you choose how much space to give its colors and detail in your home or office.
What makes a flamingo tongue snail colorful
Cyphoma gibbosum is a small marine gastropod found in tropical waters of the western Atlantic, including the Caribbean. Its patterned covering is the mantle, a layer of living tissue that extends over the shell. The markings belong to that tissue, rather than being a permanent pattern on the shell beneath.
The animal can withdraw its mantle and expose the shell. It feeds on the living tissue of soft corals where it lives. The Wikipedia species account describes its mantle, range and feeding. This distinction between living animal and empty shell explains why a photograph records something a collected shell would not preserve.
A close view from Cuba
The flamingo tongue snail photograph draws attention to the mantle’s pattern and its pink and orange tones. Taken in Jardines de la Reina, it offers a detailed subject from the Caribbean within a vertical frame. The focus is the animal’s living appearance, with the patterned covering still visible.
Try considering the image from two distances when choosing a display position. Across a room, the colors can form the first impression; close to the canvas, you can follow the markings themselves. A wall alongside a chair or a low piece of furniture leaves room for both kinds of viewing.

Canvas, wooden support and finish
Your flamingo tongue snail photograph is printed on matte canvas with non-toxic latex inks. It is stretched over a 0.75 in (1.9 cm) deep inner wooden frame of sustainably sourced pine. The photograph wraps around the edges. Hanging hardware is included, and the canvas arrives ready to hang without a decorative outer frame.
If your canvas arrives damaged or defective, contact us with a photo within 30 days of delivery for a free replacement.
The inner pine frame supports the stretched canvas. You can display its wrapped sides as supplied, or choose a decorative outer frame separately. If adding one, include its extra dimensions when you measure the available wall space.

Display ideas from the room images
The room images place a flamingo tongue snail canvas against a limestone wall with a teak stool. The small version leans on the stool; the larger versions hang above it. The pairing offers a way to compare a vertical photograph with low wooden furniture, whether you are considering a sitting area or a corner of a study.
