A bluespotted ray fills this vertical photograph with yellow eyes and bright blue markings against an olive-green body. Photographed in the Red Sea by Cobi Hay Yacobi, it brings the animal’s face close enough to study individual spots and folds. The canvas is available in three portrait sizes for a guest room, study or office.
Meet the bluespotted ray
The animal is a bluespotted ribbontail ray, Taeniura lymma, a cartilaginous fish related to sharks. It lives in the Indo-West Pacific, including the Red Sea, and uses coral reefs and nearby sandy areas. Its broad, rounded pectoral disc gives it a flattened body, while the eyes sit above the surface of the head.
Large openings called spiracles lie close to the eyes; the mouth and gill openings are underneath. It feeds on prey including shrimp, crabs, mollusks and small fish. The tail carries defensive venomous spines. The Florida Museum’s species profile explains these features and distinguishes this animal from other spotted rays.
Eyes, spots and the shape of the head
One yellow eye is prominent on the right, with a dark opening just behind it. The second eye appears farther away on the left. Blue spots spread across the head and continue into the softer detail above. The crop concentrates on the animal’s upper surface, leaving the tail and much of its overall outline outside the frame.
The bluespotted ray photograph works as both a portrait and a study of repeated shapes. At a distance, the blue dots stand out against the broad greenish surface. Up close, the curved dark pupil and fine texture around the nearer eye become more noticeable. Darker areas toward the top give the lit foreground a clear presence.

How the canvas is made
SwiftPOD, Printify’s US print provider, prints your bluespotted ray photograph to order and ships it from the USA. The matte canvas uses non-toxic latex inks and is stretched over an inner frame of sustainably sourced pine. The frame is 0.75 in (1.9 cm) deep, with the photograph continuing around the edges.
Hanging hardware is included, and the canvas arrives ready to hang. There is no decorative outer frame. The wooden support inside the canvas is already fitted; adding an outer frame is a separate styling choice if you want to coordinate it with other pictures.

A vertical print for your room
The room images place the bluespotted ray canvas in a guest room, including a medium print beside a rattan headboard. The smallest version leans against a wall on a wooden stool, and the largest hangs above a stool. Use these arrangements to compare the print’s height with the furniture beneath or beside it.
In an office or study, consider the bluespotted ray for a vertical section of wall beside a desk. The yellow and blue details offer two colors to pick up in nearby furnishings. Check that a lamp, screen or shelving will leave the eye visible from your usual seat.
